The local library branch in Kostanjevica na Krki got its premises in 2000 when part of the upper floor of the building, which previously served as the Police or Local Office, was rearranged to a library. Since then, the library serves the local population in the field of culture, education and represents a social meeting place. It is regarded as a treasure trove of books, a place for lifelong learning, support in obtaining various information, and a place for socializing. The library invites all generations of citizens. The youngest enjoy listening to fairy tales, exercising along fairy tale-based yoga or playing with didactic toys. Schoolchildren come to the library not only to get material, but also to socialize. The library is also regularly visited by members of active working population and senior citizens in retirement who still consider a book as their best companion. This way, cooperation between library and various educational, administrative, cultural, tourist and catering institutions in the local environment co-creates the pulse of life in the home municipality.
